The BaTonga tribe from Zimbabwe have been making baskets from the Ilala Palm leaves for centuries and are very well known for their weaving skills. We have taken these baskets into our studio in Cape Town and have painstakingly adorned them with beautiful glass beads. It is a long process of picking individual beads onto cotton thread, then attaching strands of beads onto wire and then using a technique to attach to the baskets.
Please note each basket weaving design is unique and you will receive something similar to the images.
